The Dubai Metro; when will Blue Line begin service?

Soon, significant neighborhoods with thousands of long-term residents will get metro service extensions.

This initiative will undoubtedly alter commutes for locals and even their choices of where to live and work. Many people have been waiting for a Metro station to open close to their neighborhood; the Dubai Ruler announced on Friday that the Blue Line will soon make this a reality.

The Blue Line will expand Metro services to popular neighborhoods where thousands of people have resided for years, including International City to Mirdif, Academic City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Al Warqa, among others, even if it won't cover the entire emirate. It will also make its way to well-liked recreation areas like Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Festival City.

With everyone anticipating the opening of the 14 new Metro stations, when will Blue Line begin operations?

The massive building plan has been laid forth by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Additionally, the timeline indicates that in six years, or in 2029, locals should be able to travel via the Blue Line's subterranean and overwater lines.

The timetable that the authority shared is as follows:

  • 2023: Tender's release
  • 2024: Awarding of project
  • 2025: Start of tunnel boring
  • 2028: Trial operation
  • 2029: Official operation

The Blue Line is a message that demonstrates how the city appreciates and cares for its citizens, not just an infrastructure project.

The Honorable The Dubai Metro is a part of the city's essence, and its existence connects Dubai's everyday life to all of its neighborhoods and inhabitants. This is according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Since the Metro's inception in 2009, two billion people have utilized it, and Sheikh Mohammed is optimistic that billions more will do so on a daily basis.
