Oman stops converting tourist visas into work permits

Additionally, it declared that it will stop providing any kind of permit to visitors from Bangladesh.

On Tuesday, Oman Police declared that visitation visas would no longer be converted to work visas in the Gulf nation.

Prior to the announcement, visitors could enter the nation on a visitation or tourist visa and thereafter apply to have it changed to a work visa.

The amended ruling goes into effect on Tuesday, October 31.

The authorities also said that they would no longer be issuing new visas to citizens of Bangladesh.

UAE residents

Citizens of the GCC in 100 countries can visit Oman without a visa. The Gulf nation made the list public last year.

As long as the resident's GCC visa is valid for a minimum of three months, the regulation is applicable.

Unified GCC visa

According to a UAE minister last month, a unified tourist visa for members of the Gulf Cooperation Council has been agreed and may be implemented as early as next year.

This would imply that travelers could visit all six of the Gulf's members—the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait—with just one visa.

Oman: Modern history

Sultan Qaboos modernized the nation by increasing spending on welfare, health care, and education. He also started economic reforms and opened up the nation.Saudi Arabia made financial contributions to the advancement of the Omani educational system and paid for the sending of Saudi educators.

Oman joined the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council as a founding member in 1981. Eventually, political reforms were implemented. A royal decree providing women the ability to vote and run for office in the Majlis al-Shura, the Omani Consultative Assembly, was issued in 1997. Two female members of the body were legitimately elected. All people over 21 were granted the right to vote in 2002, and the first elections to the Consultative Assembly under the new regulations took place in 2003. Sheikha Aisha bint Khalfan bin Jameel al-Sayabiyah became Oman's first female minister with portfolio when the Sultan nominated her to the position of National Authority for Industrial Craftsmanship in 2004.
