Sheikh Mohammed Confirms 30km Dubai Metro Blue Line Project officially
In a major development, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the official approval of the Dubai Metro Blue Line extension on Friday.
This substantial project is poised to revolutionize urban transportation in the city.
Dubai Metro Blue Line Extension Approved
The Dubai Metro Blue Line extension comes with an ambitious vision and significant investment. With a total length of 30 kilometers, the project is slated to cost Dh18 billion. What sets this extension apart is its unique composition, featuring 15.5 kilometers underground and 14.5 kilometers above ground. This strategic blend aims to optimize efficiency and connectivity.
Community-Centric Reach
One of the primary goals of the Blue Line extension is to serve and connect diverse communities. Designed to cater to areas such as Mirdif, International City, Dubai Creek, Al Warqa, and Silicon Oasis, among others, the extension is set to become a crucial lifeline for up to one million residents in these locales. This community-centric approach aligns with Dubai's commitment to inclusive and accessible public transportation.
Station Configuration for Seamless Journeys
The Blue Line extension will host a total of 14 stations, strategically distributed to ensure comprehensive coverage. Among these, seven will be elevated, with a standout iconic station contributing to the architectural landscape.
Additionally, five underground stations, including one interchange station, will facilitate smooth transitions for commuters. The inclusion of two elevated transfer stations, connecting to the existing Centrepoint station and Creek station, adds further flexibility to the metro network.
